Structure 04 explores repetition as a mechanism of directing attention—from the outside in—and refers to principles of self-organization as they are observed across nature and science. Closely aligned lines first form an organic outer contour, offering the viewer a clear and harmonious structure. Inside, however, this order begins to break apart: lines overlap, intersect, and dissolve into the surface, creating chaotic, seemingly random patterns.
The work demonstrates how complex structures can emerge from simple, repeated rules—a phenomenon found both in biological systems such as cell tissue or neural networks, and in physical processes like crystallization or the formation of turbulence. The careful placement of lines on paper or milky glass simultaneously emphasizes the fragility of these patterns. Outwardly, the forms appear calm and ordered, yet within they reveal unstable, unpredictable dynamics. Structure 04 thus makes visible the tension between order and chance, inviting reflection on self-organization as a universal principle.
