Saturn Ring and Meteor

Saturn Ring and Meteor explores the emergence of a complex yet ordered system formed through the grouping of individual elements. The three-part series presents two related sheets each: one showing a single meteor, the other a ring structure composed of 20,000 points.

As with Saturn’s real rings, whose arrangement of ice and dust particles follows physical laws to create an extremely fine yet expansive structure around the planet, the artificially created ring here also adheres to certain rules – based on probabilities and mathematical density. The work reveals an inner logic in which complexity arises from the systematic distribution of individual units. While the details may appear chaotic, irregular, and without clear order, from a distance a calm, geometric, and visually graspable structure emerges. The solitary meteor placed opposite points back, as a fragment detached from that order, to the totality of points that form the ring structure.
